Douglas J. Chappell
LP, EMS-I/E, ACLS-IT, ITLS-IT/C, RDA

Doug Chappell is Faculty at UT Houston – School of Dentistry with appointments in the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Office of Patient Care Departments. Doug directs and oversees the American Heart Association (AHA) Clinical Training Center, as well as coordinates infection control and emergency management for the school, teaches residents, dental and hygiene students, and contributes a portion of his time working in the OMS Graduate Education clinic. Doug further enlists his educational expertise within various departments at the UT Health Science Center at Houston as well as several other locations. He has sustained four decades educating, training, examining, and supervising medical professionals in the hospital, pre-hospital, clinical, aviation and maritime arenas and serves as a medical consultant. Previously, Doug developed and directed Station Emergency Programs for Southwest Airlines, was lead supervising instructor for UT Houston (McGovern) Medical School Technical Skills Programs and worked as Paramedic/Firefighter. Doug earned his degree in emergency medical technology and has an extensive background and experience in emergency medicine. Training subspecialties include flight physiology, wound care, and anesthesiology - advanced/difficult airway management. Current certifications include Licensed Paramedic, EMS Instructor/Examiner, USCG STCW-95 Instructor & Master Captain, AHA and ITLS Instructor Trainer/TC Faculty, High Angle, Swiftwater/Sea & Wilderness Rescue Instructor and Registered Dental Assistant.
